What is the percentage usage rate of this product?: Hi Lola, The usage range for cleartec plant derived preservative extract is between 1-2% of your formula.
Can this be used as a preservative in body sprays?: Hi Shawnia, Yes, as long as it's an oil-free formula.
Does this have a scent to it? I am wanting to preserve hydrosols - what would you recommend if I wanted to emulisy/add vitamin E as well?: Hi AV, if you smell the bottle of the pure preservative you'll notice a slight rose-like fragrance from the phenethyl alcohol. When diluted into the final product (1-2%) the smell shouldn't be noticeable. depending on the level of vitamin e being added, you may be able help improve the solubility in water by adding it to your cleartec and mixing before adding to hydrosol base. If you notice separation issues, I would suggest you solubilize the vitamin e at 3:1 with some biosolv.
Is this oil soluble? And is it a broad spectrum preservative? Does it work with body oils or body butter?: Hey Jessica! Yes it is broad spectrum. This is great for any formulation which contains water. If you would like to add a preservative to an oil or butter I would suggest emulsitec as this is also a broad spectrum preservative but it mixes into oils better.
