Not much sweetness

Q&A

Can this be use in yoni soap as a small amount or in the yoni oils thanks 💋
Yes it can be used for yoni soaps. It can also be used for yoni oils but it is not common to use it because yoni oils are usually oil based, and glycerin is water-soluble.
Hi there - I'm trying to avoid palm-derived products in my formulation. Can you tell me what the source of this glycerin is? Thanks!
HI Michelle, This is derived from Palm, Palm Kernel and/or Coconut oil.
Last time i tried to use glycerin in lipgloss even at 1% it was not soluble in my product i could see the droplets. Do you suggest to mix it alone with the base before or with the oil alone, do you have any suggestion so its not separating ? Thanks
Hi Jessica, Glycerin isn't oil soluble so you need to stick to 0.1-0.5% usage and mix vigorously into melted base before pouring. If you use too much glycerin it will just separate before the product has a chance to cool.
Hello, My question wasn't answered. How does glycerin sweeten? Please give me how it works chemically, a scientific answer on how it physically sweetens lip balm. Glycerin is not a sweet product.
Hi Janelle, pure vegetable glycerin is the sweetener. Glycerin is what is known as a sugar alcohol, making it naturally sweet.
How does glycerin act as a sweetener? Also, Glycerin is not oil soluble, so how does this work in lip balms?
Hi Janelle, it is true that glycerin is not oil soluble. When using it in lip balms we suggest a very low usage (<0.5%) because if more is used it will separate. However, the wax and hydrogenated soybean oil actually act as a binding/low-grade emulsifier in this case and help to bind a very small amount of glycerin once solidified. if you want to emulsify, 5% pure silk emulsifier (W/O) can emulsify up to 10% glycerin but you will get a jelly-like final texture that is more similar to a lip mask (like a plant-based vaseline).
