Prepping Candle Vessels For Reuse
Upcycling is the bomb. Get down with your sustainable self and learn how to prep a used candle vessel to be repurposed.
When you're finished burning your favorite candle, and you're left with an empty vessel, follow these steps to get it ready for a second life.
- Heat the oven to 180F.
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or 1- 2 layers of parchment paper.
- Place the candle upside down on the baking sheet and place in the oven.
- The wax will take about 10 - 15 minutes to melt.
- Remove the pan and place it on a heat-resistant surface, letting any wax harden.
- Wipe down the inside of your vessel to clear out any leftover wax and let the container cool.
- Now using a large bowl or bucket with warm soap and water, use a butter knife to remove any wick clip or wick sticker remnant.
- Remember, don't put your wax down the sink! It will harden and cause issues in your plumbing. Always dispose of your wax in the garbage.
