Prepping Candle Vessels For Reuse

by | published

Upcycling is the bomb. Get down with your sustainable self and learn how to prep a used candle vessel to be repurposed.

When you're finished burning your favorite candle, and you're left with an empty vessel, follow these steps to get it ready for a second life.

  1. Heat the oven to 180F.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or 1- 2 layers of parchment paper.
  3. Place the candle upside down on the baking sheet and place in the oven.
  4. The wax will take about 10 - 15 minutes to melt.
  5. Remove the pan and place it on a heat-resistant surface, letting any wax harden.
  6. Wipe down the inside of your vessel to clear out any leftover wax and let the container cool.
  7. Now using a large bowl or bucket with warm soap and water, use a butter knife to remove any wick clip or wick sticker remnant.
  8. Remember, don't put your wax down the sink! It will harden and cause issues in your plumbing. Always dispose of your wax in the garbage.

Happy making!
