Brand Self Esteem

You’ve heard of the term “self-esteem,” but what about “brand esteem?” They’re very similar, except one has to do with you as an individual while the other has to do with, well… your brand!

According to psychology, self-esteem is what we use to describe how we feel about our own personal value or worth.

It’s essentially how much you appreciate yourself and can often be swapped for words like self-worth, self-respect, and self-regard. So when we think about this in terms of brand esteem, we’re referring to how we view our brand’s worth and how much we genuinely appreciate it.

the role of brand esteem

Whether you’ve recently launched your business or your shop has been up and running for a while, your brand esteem plays an important role in how your customers perceive you – it’s part of your image that’s out in the world and of course we want that to be the best it can be!

how does brand esteem develop?

There are 4 components that help define your brand’s esteem:

  1. Confidence
  2. Identity
  3. Sense of Belonging
  4. Feeling of Competence

When these four aspects of your brand are balanced and there’s not too much or too little of each, your brand esteem heightens and your motivation as an entrepreneur starts to pick up.

High brand esteem usually means you’re willing to try new things like taking the leap to legally establish your business, add a new product to your line, or stage your next photoshoot with elevated accessories.

You give your brand esteem a shot at growth with every chance you take on yourself and your business, so don’t be afraid of diving in!

    building confidence

Building confidence in your brand comes with time as customers show their interest in your products and you become more seasoned in your craft and production.

    identity

Identity builds as you learn what works and what doesn’t for your brand – from the color palette you use to the way you package your products and how you speak to your customers online… your brand identity will start to reveal itself as you spend more time figuring the ins and outs of your business.

    sense of belonging

Your brand’s sense of belonging develops as certain types of customers begin finding and purchasing your products – they become part of your brand’s community and you become part of their purchasing preference (what a win)!

    feeling of competence

And lastly, your brand’s feeling of competence starts to surface as all of these factors start tying together… like when your products are purchased on a regular basis, when your customers acknowledge the quality of your work by leaving reviews or engaging with your social media posts, and as you start to craft your formulas with more ease and knowledge than ever before.
