Casa Figlia was born from one of life’s most painful and transformative seasons — a story shaped by love, sacrifice, resilience, and healing. What began as a quiet creative outlet during the overwhelming reality of full-time caregiving slowly became something much greater: a purpose, a business, and a way to bring comfort to others through fragrance. Behind every candle is a deeply personal journey rooted in finding light during dark moments and learning how creativity can heal in ways words often cannot.
In a season marked by uncertainty, grief, and putting her own dreams on hold to care for her father after his brain cancer diagnosis, fragrance became more than just scent — it became therapy, ritual, escape, and hope. Through candle making, she rediscovered pieces of herself while creating moments of warmth and peace for the people around her. Today, Casa Figlia stands as a beautiful reminder that even the hardest chapters of life can bloom into something meaningful, and that sometimes the most powerful businesses are built not just from ambition, but from heart.
from caregiver to candle maker
In 2016 my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ten years later, he is still with us and cancer free but the tumor damaged his brain and left him impaired cognitively. I became his full time, live in caregiver in 2017 but it became too difficult to care for him and juggle a career, so in 2019, I stopped working completely, It was during this time that I began experimenting with fragrance blending and candle making as a therapeutic way to cope with the stress, isolation and fear that comes with leaving everything behind to care for a parent.
the spark that changed everything
When I learned that a lot of ingredients used in candles are toxic, I became committed to making only clean burning candles. I was shocked to know that something we bring into our homes to provide warmth and comfort can be harmful to us! It was important for me to raise awareness about this to my friends and family and I began making more and more candles to share with them. After months of practice, it occurred to me that while I could not balance a traditional career while caring for my dad, pouring candles was something I could do from home and in November 2020, I officially launched Casa Figlia as an online shop.
a name rooted in love
The name Casa Figlia is an homage to my Italian roots and a nod to my role as a full-time caregiver of my father, as it translates to 'house daughter,' Even though it may be hard for people to pronounce, (Figlia is pronounced FEE lee ah), I love the name because it's a reflection of my journey and how I've made something beautiful out of a challenging situation.
candles with heart & purpose
What started out as a hobby based on my love of candles is now more about the community and relationships that have developed since launching Casa Figlia. Nothing makes me happier than when a customer tells me how one of my candles got them through a hard time or helped them celebrate a special moment. My mission is to provide beautiful and safe candles that will spread positivity into the lives they touch. When I pour the candles in my studio, I pray that they end up where they are most needed and that they pour out joy and happiness wherever they go.
building the dream bigger
The next step is a big one! I'm launching a new business and will be opening my first brick and mortar store this year! Casa Figlia will remain active and will be the wholesale supplier of the candles and perfumes for the store, but the shop itself will function as an event space, hosting candle and perfume making workshops. The name of the store is Amicasa, a blend of the Italian words Amica (friend) and Casa (house), which is a reflection of all of the special connections and relationships that I have made since launching Casa Figlia. I'm overjoyed to continue to connect with folks over the healing effects of fragrance and creativity and cannot wait to provide a space with like minded aromatherapy lovers can come together to create

Casa Figlia wouldn't be where it is now without Makesy. Access to clean and sustainable ingredients is crucial to our product and our mission. The aura jars have become our signature glassware and reflect the quality of the candles in their elegant appearance. Makesy was also instrumental in our ability to launch a perfume line. Everything from the resources to the community and products are major factors in Casa Figlia's success.
