"Newbie to soap making here! I love using the 50/50 solution as I live in a very windy area and mixing a lye solution outside is OUT OF THE QUESTION! Thanks to MAKESY, I am in love with soap-making, I am smitten with the 50/50 lye solution and will be ordering more. The only thing I will say would be an issue is that my recipe reaches trace very quickly with low temps. I wait until my oils are at least 87 degrees F before adding the room temp lye. The video on YT doesn't explain the temps needed for designs with this solution."

Great Product but a bit costly
"I am a brand-new soaper and was terrified to work with lye that I had to mix on my own. It was for this reason that I decided to give the 50/50 lye solution a try. It helped give me the confidence to start my soap-making journey and made it easy to formulate some basic recipes that got me started. With this amazing product, I have been able to get my first two CP batches under my belt with ease. My only issue with this product is the shipping cost (more so for the large bottle). $40 seems super high. I understand that there are weights that require more shipping, though. I also feel better about master batching my lye now that I know how to work with a 50/50 solution, thanks to this product! Thank you, Makesy, for helping me get started on my soaping journey!"

- Hi. I purchased a small kit and individual bottle of 16oz. Trinity soap base. I have to collaborate on Robin's question from 2023. Your response referred to the recipe in the blog, which I've seen numerous times. The recipe is for use with a 5lb mold. Please tell me how much 50/50 lye and water (or liquid) to use 16oz of soap base. Thank you.
- Hi Cherrie, for 16oz of the soap base here is the amounts we suggest to use of this: -16 oz Trinity Cold Process Soap Oil Base - 4.5 oz Sodium Hydroxide Lye 50/50 Solution - 2.25 oz Water
- I am still at a loss on how to put this in the soap calculator. My guess is to calculate the recipe, but then how do I know how much extra water to use?
- Hi Nirma, this solution is a 50/50 ratio. For example if you are using 8oz of this solution in your recipe it would be 4oz of lye and 4oz of water.
- I absolutely love the idea of the 50/50 solution. I am just having trouble wrapping my head around how to use it in a lye calculator. One of the recipes I am playing with (I have less than no idea what I am doing!) has the default or suggestion of 2:1 liquid to lye ratio. Another showed as 95.9g lye to 212.25g liquid. I don't understand how to account for the 50/50 solution with the lye calculators.
