Measuring Wax For The Perfect Candle Pour

by | published

So, how much candle wax should I use? In this video, Charlotte talks about how to accurately calculate how much wax you need so that you have the perfect pour for your next candle making project.

Calculating the amount of wax you will need depends on how many candles you are making and the total ounce fill for each container you are using.

First, you need to find out the total ounce fill for the vessel or container you are going to use. This information is usually listed on the product website or on the container.

Next, you are going to subtract one ounce from the total ounce fill to accommodate for the fill line. You want to always allow for a minimum of around 1/4 inch around the diameter of the candle to be free of wax.

Finally, multiply the total amount of ounces for your fill by the amount of candles you would like to make (given all the vessels are the same size). For example, the total oz fill for my vessel is 8 oz. and I want to make 6 candles, so I am going to multiple 7 oz. by 6 and would need 42 total ounces of wax.

NOTE: Wax is usually sold in pounds so make sure to convert this to ounces!
